I am amazed at how many women compare themselves to their favorite celebrities. Hollywood and the beauty industry are all smoke and mirrors. Celebrities wake up looking exactly like everyone else in the world. Just as a dog trainer makes handling dogs look effortless, appearing beautiful is a celebrity’s job. I am here to tell you that it takes effort, but it can be replicated. Yes, these women are incredibly beautiful, there’s no denying that! Certainly among the top percentage of the world, but they have gangs of professionals behind the scenes helping them appear that way. I would say almost everyone, if not everyone, has hair extensions. Makeup artists can help shape their features to camouflage their insecurities and enhance their beauty. Photographers take countless pictures to choose 1 or perhaps a few to be featured in a magazine, which is then manipulated into perfection. High-end clothing is tailored to their bodies. What we see is not real. It is a piece of art orchestrated by many people at the top of their field.
But that doesn’t mean there isn’t hope for us all. We can all use these amazing tools to enhance our own beauty. We can get hair extensions. We can all get a makeup lesson. We can all filter our photos to smooth out the fine lines. And I’m not mad at anyone who does it! In fact, I believe that enhancing our outer shells can help give us confidence on the inside.
I’ve always been amazed at how someone’s confidence exudes when they love what they see in the mirror. All of a sudden, they appear a little taller, their smile gets a little broader, and the twinkle in their eye sparkles a little brighter.
I’ll fill you in on how to start. First of all, go get a makeup lesson. Chances are your makeup looks dated or you’re applying it in a way that doesn’t enhance your features. Next, get some hair extensions. Everyone’s got them and so should you. It may feel excessive at first, but you’ll get used to them. In reality, your favorite celebrity has twice as many in! Get a blow-dry lesson. Chances are your hairstylist is, unknowingly, cheating you out of getting the most out of your appointment. Get the products they use and ask them how to use it. And for God’s sake PRACTICE WHAT THEY TELL YOU!!! It will feel hard at first but you have to change how you style it in order for your hair to look different. Then, update your clothes. If you’re going for a new look, you’ll definitely feel uncomfortable at first until it doesn’t. And last but not least, be confident!! You don’t need anyone’s permission to be the best version of yourself!
