I recently rebought the first book that sparked my curiosity about veganism/eating healthy. “A no-nonsense, tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous!” is on the book cover. That was exactly what I needed! I had started my fitness journey but didn’t know much about food. This little gem gave me the kick-in-the-ass that I needed. It gave me the awareness about what actually goes on behind the scenes and what these “foods” actually do to the body. You’ll certainly have to have thick skin, because these beauties will call you out on your poor habits, and they curse a lot. The first time they mentioned I would stay a big, fat pig if I kept certain habits I almost spit the soda out of my mouth. I haven’t touched it since, except for the yearly lemon Fanta, when I go back to Spain.
I am forever grateful for the awareness this little book gave me because it started my journey down the super deep rabbit hole that we call the food industry. It’s hard to write much about it, because I would give away too much, but believe me when I say you HAVE to read it! It’s a quick read that will have you laughing your butt off, and crying too, mostly because we aren’t taught about the food we consume, and it’s terrifying, like known toxic chemicals are even “grandfathered-in” because they’ve been around for an incredibly long time. It’s eye opening to say the least, but we need to be aware of what we consume so we can prevent ailments that may occur if we continuously indulge in them.
So run out and get a copy of Skinny Bitch. The book won’t make you skinny but its contents may help you make better choices that will get you there.
