Endocrine disruptors do exactly what it states. They’re toxic chemicals that disrupt the hormones in the body and we are inundated with them. It’s pretty much impossible to eliminate them, but being aware and excluding as many of them from your life is nothing short of healthy and necessary. They’re in the foods we eat, soaps we use, beauty products, air fresheners, plastic containers, toys, pesticides etc. There are countless applications that “they” continue to allow us to be exposed to. So it is truly up to us to learn and make choices that will guarantee our health stays intact.
Sometimes I feel like I should be living in a bubble, my air pure and oxygenated. I’m so sensitive that if someone with perfume walks by me I get an instant migraine, like drive home and isolate myself for a few days with the lights and AC off, type of migraine. Although I am incredibly sensitive, I am grateful that my body rebels immediately because reducing my exposure is imperative.
One way to greatly reduce your exposure to endocrine disruptors is by being aware of the beauty products you use. The Environmental Working Group has a great website where you can input your products or their ingredients to see how toxic they are.
So what’s my favorite hair care line? Well it isn’t a professional one…I actually poo-pooed it at one point, before I actually tried it. I became so allergic to the professional lines that I started seeking outside of the “professional beauty” lines I was committed to. I became friends with a woman, a nurse, hairstylist and trichologist (someone who helps people with hair loss), whom I met online. She seemed to be as fussy as I am and introduced me to Monat. I tried it and I was hooked. The first thing I noticed was that the smell of their products didn’t make my eyes burn, or close up my sinuses from the toxic chemicals, and they didn’t make my scalp itch. Once I actually worked with the styling products I fell head over heels in love with it. I had never used products that made my hair feel so soft and look so shiny all while feeling super light in my hair!
Here’s the link! Cristy’s favorite hair products I recommend that you try them out first and when you’re hooked like me sign up to be a market partner, the discounts are amazing! Until then, make sure you get familiar with all of the endocrine disruptors plaguing your life and make better choices.
Note*
Monat is very user specific, but here are some of my faves..
Renew shampoo-My hair feels so nourished when I use Renew
Black Shampoo-my scalp LOVES this shampoo
Rejuvenique oil-if you don’t already oil your scalp is imperative for scalp health. Our scalps age 10 times faster than the skin on our faces and most people don’t do anything to ensure their scalps stay healthy.
Restyle Instant Sculpting Taffy-I love this pomade! It gives me hold, control and shine without the heaviness or stickiness.
Blow Out Cream-A little goes a long way! This blowout cream makes my hair shiny and super soft without feeling heavy. My hair is bouncy when I blow it out.
Rejuvabeads-A split end mender! A little goes a long way. 2-3 pumps is all you need. Apply to your ends, Let it set for a few minutes before applying your next product.
Super Moisture Mask-WOW in a tub! Makes your hair super soft without weighing it down.
Smoothing Anti-Frizz Spray-It does just that! If you use the shampoo and conditioner, in addition to the spray, it can help maintain a frizz free look for up to 72 hours!
If you’re not sure which products to use, send me a DM on IG and I’ll make recommendations for you.
